  • Anshika Rathi was selected as the anchor (master of ceremony , emcee) for SAE International's event A World In Motion(AWIM) in India ,both for Delhi Regionals & Nationals held on 8th October & 14 November respectively alongwith Ms.Malika from Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. She received appreciation from Mr. IV Rao, MEO Engg. , MSIL.
  • Fagun Garg, Preeti Kumari, Shikha Baliyan presented a research paper on “Conversion of vertical tube boiler into the vertical heat pipe boiler” to be published in Alcamist DCE. The paper was presented in many colleges where they were awarded various positions: IIT Roorkee (Ist position), DCE (Ist position), Jamia Millia Islamia (Ist position), IGDTUW (2nd position)
  • Ms. Parul Chadda received the Kalpana Chawla Award for outstanding achievement as woman Engineer. She received a cash award for Rs 5000/- and a certificate.
  • Ms. Ayushi Malik received the GE Scholarship award for 2010-11.
  • Ms. Sanya Thakur got selected by University of Michigan
  • Garima Rana got selected for MBA by London Business School
  • Chavi Gupta got selected for MBA by IIT Roorkee.

Students Achievements in Technical Events


IGDTUW DEMETRIA 2011 made a 3 wheeled cycle involving electrical mechanism as well as “Green-ability” of the cycle which made it energy efficient. It was designed by a team of seven enthusiastic students from MAE department who worked for about five and a half months under the guidance of Mr. Arun Gupta (faculty advisor). The team was sponsored by E-bikes India Company in terms of parts. The team participated in the event that was held in UIET College, Chandigarh in October, 2011. The team performed extremely well and managed to complete seven full laps of the Endurance run without a single vehicle breakdown. IGDTUW Demetria gained judge’s appreciation in the gradability test for being the only team who used the motor to climb an incline of seven degrees. The All-girls team received appreciation from Ms. Pamela Tikku (Convenor) for the flawless performance in the event. The vehicle was also among the few models which were kept on display to be analyzed by the chief guest. The team ranked 29th among the 37 teams that had been short-listed for the final event.

IGDTUW AIOUS racing team participated in ‘Supra SAE’ organized by SAE for the first time at the Madras Motor Sports Club race track at Chennai in July, 2011. IGDTUW team made the car which was designed by a team of 11 enthusiastic students from MAE department. Total 70 teams participated from which 46 were selected for the final phase of supra and our AIOUS racing team was among them. It was the lightest car , and won the cost event award in Supra The sponsors of the team were – Maruti Suzuki, JKTyre, ANSYS, ONGC, Madame, SUS PROG 3D, KN Filter, FPD. As a special reward, the officials of F1 GRANDPRIX invited AIOUS RACING TEAM 2011, to Buddha International Circuit on 23rd Oct’11.

Team Vidyottama was an all- girls team of a Super Mileage Vehicle project - a joint venture of ECE and MAE students, which participated in Shell Eco Marathon, Asia-2011- an international level competition organized by Shell Global Solutions, held in Sepang International Circuit, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 6th- 9th July 2011. Team Vidyottama was among the only 3 teams from India (out of the participating 9), which cleared the technical inspections. SAIL (Steel Authority of India) and SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers) were the two sponsors, sponsoring 1 lakh each.

IGDTUW Yantriki cleared Virtual BAJA SAE INDIA 2012 with flying colors and in the main event they have won a Chairman award. The team has received a sponsorship of Rs 50, 000 from Jindal Steels and Rs 50 000 from Indian Oil Corporation Ltd.
