Bio-Sketch: In addition to pursuing a career in academia, Ar. Prashant Kumar is a Conservation Architect with a commitment to preserving the Nation’s Heritage and Culture through meticulous documentation and conservation initiatives. He completed his Master in Architecture (M.Arch) in Architectural Conservation from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi and Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) from University School of Architecture and Planning USAP, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University GGSIPU, New Delhi. Having played instrumental roles in various projects, his expertise is represented through his contribution in the works, such as, the UNESCO Nomination Dossier for the Historic Ensemble of Orchha, the Restoration and Upgradation of Patna Museum in Bihar, and the Conservation Management Plans for esteemed landmarks such as Chandra Mahal, City Palace, and Town Hall in Jaipur. His creative input has also been pivotal in the development of gallery designs for renowned institutions like the Museum of the Word and Indian Museum in Kolkata, as well as Sadar Manzil in Bhopal, among other projects, all executed under the guidance of Dr. Shikha Jain, Director - DRONAH, Gurugram. His journey into the realm of heritage conservation began during his architectural internship, where he honed his skills under the mentorship of Conservation Architect Vikas Dilawari in Mumbai. During this formative period, he contributed significantly to the repairs and restoration projects for iconic structures such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Bazar Gate Police Station, Ma Hajiani Dargah, and the Commissariat Building, showcasing his ability to blend traditional craftsmanship with contemporary conservation practices. Driven by a profound passion for heritage, culture, and architecture, he continues to champion the cause of preservation through his meticulous documentation and restoration efforts.
